About Luke

Luke Van Every aka The Shoulder Guy

Luke Van Every is known by his exclusive clients as “The Shoulder Guy” because of his incredible passion for and knowledge of the human shoulder. He is an expert on shoulder function and therapeutic shoulder interventions. This enables Luke to foster in his clients a real sense of reassurance, optimism and achievement soon after shoulder injuries occur.

Luke is a locally trained physiotherapist who has studied the shoulder extensively incorporating international experience and education. Luke’s most recent exploits in Sept 2010 saw him travel to the International Shoulder and Elbow Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland to sample the best the world has to offer in shoulder physiotherapy and also enjoy the Scottish fare. Back in June 2009 Luke spent time with renowned UK Shoulder Surgeon Dr Lennard Funk and Specialist Shoulder Physiotherapist Kathleen Tatlow at the Manchester Shoulder Clinic and attend theWrightington Hospital Upper Limb Unit’s 2009 Sports Shoulder Conference.

It’s clear that Luke takes pride in expanding his working knowledge of shoulder physiotherapy whenever possible to keep abreast of the latest shoulder research and therapeutic techniques. What’s more, Luke has personally experienced what it takes to overcome a shoulder injury, which he achieved using his simple shoulder rehab strategies that he can teach you.

Luke is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and the Shoulder and Elbow Physiotherapy Association of Australia. He has close working relationships with some of Brisbane’s leading upper limb Orthopaedic Surgeons and is regarded as an expert in the area of shoulder physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

Luke has the expertise and specific strategies and techniques that work.

In Luke’s own words:

“Let’s face it, it’s no secret that the average physiotherapist hates shoulders…they are notoriously hard to accurately diagnose and usually require an experienced specialist who uses a hands on,  individualised approach with specific educational input”.

“Successful shoulder rehabilitation doesn’t happen by accident”.

Let me ask these questions of you:

Are you happy with your shoulder function and strength?

Have you felt that you could have achieved more in a physiotherapy session?

Do you get the feeling that sometimes you are disconnected or isolated?

Have you ever been pushed way to hard and your gut feeling was “that was too much”?

Right now, do you have a shoulder injury but aren’t sure what to do about it or who to see to get help?

If you have answered “Yes!” to any of these questions then I can help.

My soul objective is to give you back control of your body and get rid of your shoulder pain once and for all. There is a word called “Freedom” and I aim to deliver this to you by empowering you through education, improved body awareness, utilising non medicated pain management strategies, personally mentoring you and instructing you to effectively use range of motion and simple specific strengthening exercises.

There is a lot involved in shoulder rehabilitation but in my opinion increasing your body awareness or “Physical IQ” as I like to call it, is the single most effective way to achieve long lasting results.

In short, get educated!
